Ken Griffey Jr. traded to Chicago White Sox

Well folks, Ken Griffey Jr. has been traded to the Chicago White Sox. While the trade is not yet official, the Reds made the deal this morning. Since Jr. has 10 years in the Major Leagues and 5 years with the same team, he has the option to veto the trade. With all the recent back and forth between him and Reds broadcaster Jeff Brantley, he may just head on out to Chi-town.

Griffey Jr. is hitting .245 this season with 15 home runs and 53 RBIs. On Wednesday night, he hit home run 608 against the Astros, placing him 1 home run shy of Sammy Sosa for 5th all-time.

As a Reds fan I welcome the trade for both sides. I feel like Griffey Jr. is ready to move on and the Reds need some younger talent in place him. I appreciate all the service he provided the Reds and thank him greatly for it. Although he was struck by injury on numerous occasion's, he still played the game right. Which is a lot more than you can say for a lot of current players.

If he accepts the deal he will be missed, but as I mentioned...I think it's time for both sides to move on. What do you think of all this?

Good luck Ken!
