I'm in the process of finally redesigning my site. The 960 GS really got me motivated and has mad things MUCH easier.
My redesign will be taking place on the Drupal platform. I decided to stick with it after briefly using WordPress for a clients site. I just didn't find WordPress as intuitive and I love Drupal's codebase and theme'ing capabilities.
All in all, the site will be simple by design and utilize whitespace better. I've decided to implement a few trendy elements, but largely stayed away from them where I could so I wouldn't feel like I had to redesign my site in 6 months.
While I'll be sticking with my current theme for the moment, somethings may disappear as elements get moved around and changed. I'm about a third of the way done, and may possibly post a "sneak peek" int the coming weeks. If there's something you are looking for and can no longer find it, just let me know and I'll help you where I can.

Once you can digg into the ninesixty theme, you will love it. It completely removes all layout code from your CSS, and let's you focus on the cool stuff you want to.
The ns() function is a bear to get accustomed to when it comes to dynamically sizing your grid elements, but after you get the hang of it, it's amazing. I had the pleasure of meeting Nathan Smith this weekend at the D4D - Boston event, and see the session he gave on grid systems, and it was truly phenomenal. I have a submission up for voting on 960gs overview for Drupalcon paris I'm hoping to get to present on.
I used the ninesixty theme on my new theme (very incomplete), and implemented the Fluid 960 (http://www.designinfluences.com/fluid960gs/) as a subtheme of my theme, and it gave me both a solid 960 and a fluid version that adusted to both left & right, either left or right or no sidebars, and works like a champ.
Jake thanks for the valuable feedback. Ill have to look into some of the Drupal 960 themes. For this redesign I'm just using a Zen subtheme. To get the 960 aspects I'm just embedding 960gridder. It allows to to change everything on the fly and I don't have to write in the extra unwanted CSS either. Keeps things very clean and can be removed once I'm done with the design.
I used the 960 grid for each and every one of my class assignments this past quarter. I really enjoyed it and as it was said, it let me pay more attention to the overall design knowing the layout was under control.
I am definitely looking to integrate it further, especially into my next portfolio (haha always working on a new one). I also read your post on jQuery and with these tools web design is becoming A LOT more fun.
